Job Overview

This position is part of HAF’s commitment to advancing biodiversity conservation in the High Atlas region. The Biodiversity Conservation Specialist will lead initiatives to protect endemic species, restore degraded habitats, and promote sustainable land-use practices. The role requires collaboration with local communities, government agencies, and international partners to design and execute conservation programs aligned with global biodiversity goals.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct field surveys to assess biodiversity status and identify conservation priorities.
  • Develop and implement habitat restoration plans for priority ecosystems.
  • Engage with local communities to promote sustainable agriculture and wildlife-friendly practices.
  • Monitor and report on the impact of conservation projects using GIS and data analysis tools.
  • Coordinate with stakeholders to secure funding and resources for conservation initiatives.

Required Skills

  • Proven experience in biodiversity conservation and ecological fieldwork.
  • Strong knowledge of Moroccan flora and fauna, with a focus on the High Atlas region.
  • Proficiency in GIS software (e.g., ArcGIS) and data analysis tools (e.g., R, Python).
  • Excellent communication and project management skills.
  • Ability to work in remote, rural environments with limited infrastructure.

Education

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Environmental Science, Ecology, or related field.
  • Master’s Degree preferred.

Experience

  • 3-5 years of professional experience in biodiversity conservation or environmental project management.
  • Previous work in Morocco or North Africa is an advantage.

Salary

35,000 – 45,000 SSP Annually
