Job Overview

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, configure, and maintain firewalls, intrusion detection/prevention systems, and security information and event management (SIEM) platforms for the carrier network.
  • Conduct regular penetration testing, vulnerability scanning, and risk assessments on network devices, routers, switches, and optical transport equipment.
  • Develop and enforce security policies, standards, and procedures aligned with international frameworks such as ISO 27001 and NIST.
  • Monitor security alerts, investigate incidents, and lead incident response activities to mitigate threats in real time.
  • Collaborate with the Network Engineering team to integrate security controls into 5G, MPLS, and SD‑WAN deployments.
  • Provide technical guidance and training to junior engineers and operational staff on security best practices.
  • Prepare detailed reports, dashboards, and compliance documentation for senior management and regulatory bodies.
  • Stay updated on emerging cyber threats, zero‑day exploits, and industry trends to proactively enhance the security posture.

Required Skills

  • Strong knowledge of network protocols (TCP/IP, BGP, OSPF, MPLS) and telecom equipment vendors (Cisco, Nokia, Huawei).
  • Hands‑on experience with firewalls (Cisco ASA, Palo Alto), IDS/IPS, and SIEM tools (Splunk, QRadar).
  • Proficiency in scripting languages such as Python or Bash for automation of security tasks.
  • Understanding of encryption technologies, PKI, and VPN solutions.
  • Excellent analytical and problem‑solving abilities with a keen eye for detail.
  • Effective communication skills to convey complex security concepts to technical and non‑technical stakeholders.
  • Relevant certifications (CISSP, CCNP Security, CEH) are highly desirable.

Education

A minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Security, Electrical Engineering, or a related discipline is required. Advanced degrees or specialized training in cybersecurity will be considered an advantage.

Experience

Candidates must possess at least five years of professional experience in network security, preferably within a telecommunications carrier environment. Demonstrated experience in designing security architectures for large‑scale networks and handling incident response for high‑impact events is essential.

Salary
