Job Overview
IUCN Morocco is seeking a passionate Coastal Ecosystem Monitoring Specialist to lead field research and data collection efforts in Morocco’s Atlantic coastal zones. This role supports IUCN’s mission to protect marine biodiversity while promoting sustainable livelihoods for coastal communities. The position offers opportunities to work with cutting-edge environmental monitoring technologies and collaborate with international conservation experts.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct field surveys to monitor coastal ecosystem health indicators
- Collect and analyze marine biodiversity data using GIS and remote sensing tools
- Develop conservation reports for local and international stakeholders
- Coordinate with fishing communities to implement sustainable practices
- Design and execute coastal habitat restoration projects
- Prepare scientific publications for peer-reviewed journals
Required Skills
- Expertise in marine ecosystem monitoring methodologies
- Proficiency in QGIS and ArcGIS software
- Strong data analysis skills using R or Python
- Experience with underwater survey techniques
- Excellent report writing and presentation abilities
- Bilingual proficiency in Arabic and French
Education
- Master’s Degree in Environmental Science, Marine Biology, or related field
