Job Overview
UK-Med is seeking qualified and compassionate Midwives to join its humanitarian response register. This role offers the opportunity to deliver emergency medical care in crisis and disaster settings worldwide, contributing to life-saving healthcare services.
Job Details
- Hours: Register-based role (deployment not guaranteed; full-time when deployed)
- Salary: GBP £3,400 – £4,000 per month (depending on role level and context)
- Contract Duration: Typically 4 to 12 weeks per deployment
- Location: International assignments across UK-Med response areas
About the Role
UK-Med, a frontline medical aid charity with over 30 years of experience, is looking for midwives ready to work in humanitarian environments. You will be deployed at short notice (minimum 4–6 weeks availability required) and play a key role in delivering quality maternal healthcare and supporting local medical teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver emergency midwifery care in line with global best practices
- Support and train local healthcare staff (e.g., Ministry of Health, NGOs)
- Act as a technical resource in humanitarian healthcare settings
- Ensure high standards of patient care and safety
- Contribute to capacity building and knowledge sharing
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams in challenging environments
Candidate Profile
- Licensed and experienced Midwife
- Strong ability to work in high-pressure and rapidly changing environments
- Compassionate, collaborative, and adaptable mindset
- Willingness to travel internationally on short notice
- Language skills are an advantage
- Commitment to continuous learning and development
