Job Overview
The Financial Compliance Officer will be responsible for ensuring that BNP Paribas adheres to all applicable local and international regulations, including anti‑money laundering (AML), counter‑terrorist financing (CTF), sanctions, and reporting standards. The role involves monitoring regulatory changes, conducting risk assessments, preparing compliance reports, and collaborating with internal stakeholders to implement effective controls. The successful candidate will act as a key liaison between the compliance department, business units, and external regulators, safeguarding the bank’s reputation and supporting its strategic objectives. Key Responsibilities
- Monitor and interpret Moroccan and international banking regulations, ensuring timely implementation of compliance policies.
- Conduct periodic risk assessments and gap analyses across business lines to identify potential compliance vulnerabilities.
- Prepare and submit regulatory filings, AML/CTF reports, and sanctions screening results to relevant authorities.
- Collaborate with legal, audit, and risk teams to develop and update internal controls, procedures, and training materials.
- Lead investigations into suspicious activities, coordinate with law enforcement, and maintain detailed documentation.
- Provide advisory support to business units on regulatory matters, promoting a culture of compliance throughout the organization.
- Maintain up‑to‑date compliance dashboards and metrics for senior management review.
- Participate in internal and external audits, responding to queries and implementing corrective actions.
Required Skills
- In‑depth knowledge of Moroccan banking regulations, AML/CTF frameworks, and international standards such as FATF, Basel III, and GDPR.
- Strong analytical and problem‑solving abilities, with a keen eye for detail.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in French, Arabic, and English.
- Proficiency in compliance software tools and data analysis platforms.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects under tight deadlines.
- High ethical standards and a commitment to confidentiality.
Education
A bachelor’s degree in Finance, Law, Business Administration, or a related discipline is required. Professional certifications such as Certified Anti‑Money Laundering Specialist (CAMS), Certified Financial Crime Specialist (CFCS), or equivalent are highly desirable and will be considered an asset during the selection process.
Experience
The ideal candidate will have at least five years of hands‑on experience in financial compliance, regulatory reporting, or risk management within a banking or financial services environment. Prior exposure to Moroccan regulatory bodies, such as Bank Al‑Maghrib and the Authority for Financial Services and Markets (ACAPS), is essential. Experience working in an international banking group and familiarity with cross‑border compliance issues will further strengthen the application.
