Job Overview

The Data Privacy Officer will lead HSBC Morocco’s data protection initiatives, ensuring that all personal and sensitive information is handled in strict compliance with applicable laws and internal policies. Reporting directly to the Head of Compliance, the role involves developing privacy strategies, conducting impact assessments, and advising business units on risk mitigation. The officer will serve as the primary point of contact for regulatory authorities, customers, and internal stakeholders on privacy matters, fostering a culture of data stewardship throughout the organization.

In this pivotal role, you will collaborate with IT, legal, risk, and business teams to embed privacy by design into all products and services. You will also lead training programs, monitor emerging regulatory trends, and drive continuous improvement of privacy controls. Key Responsibilities

• Develop, implement, and maintain HSBC Morocco’s data privacy framework in line with GDPR, Moroccan Law 09-08, and other relevant regulations.
• Conduct Data Protection Impact Assessments (DPIAs) for new projects, products, and services.
• Provide legal and practical guidance to business units on privacy risks and mitigation strategies.
• Serve as the primary liaison with the Moroccan data protection authority (CNDP) and other regulatory bodies.
• Monitor and interpret changes in privacy legislation, advising senior management on necessary policy updates.
• Lead incident response activities related to data breaches, ensuring timely notification and remediation.
• Design and deliver privacy awareness training programs for employees at all levels.
• Maintain comprehensive documentation of privacy policies, procedures, and audit findings.
• Collaborate with IT security teams to enforce technical safeguards and encryption standards.
• Report regularly to the Head of Compliance on privacy performance metrics and risk indicators.

Required Skills

• In-depth knowledge of GDPR, Moroccan data protection law, and international privacy standards.
• Strong analytical and risk assessment capabilities.
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, in English and French; Arabic is a plus.
• Proven ability to influence cross‑functional teams and drive compliance initiatives.
• Experience with privacy management software and data mapping tools.
• Attention to detail and a proactive problem‑solving mindset.
• Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously under tight deadlines.

Education

A Master’s degree in Law, Information Security, Computer Science, or a related discipline is required. Professional certifications such as CIPP/E, CIPM, or ISO 27701 are highly desirable and will be considered an advantage during the selection process.

Experience

Applicants must have a minimum of five years of hands‑on experience in data privacy, compliance, or legal advisory roles within the banking, financial services, or technology sectors. Prior experience working in a multinational environment and familiarity with cross‑border data transfers are essential.

Salary

The successful candidate will receive a competitive annual salary ranging from 250,000 to 350,000 SSP, commensurate with experience and qualifications. Additional performance‑based bonuses and benefits are part of the total compensation package.
