Job Overview

The Railway Operations Manager will lead the planning, coordination, and execution of daily railway activities for Alstom’s projects in the Fez region. Reporting to the Regional Operations Director, you will ensure safe, punctual, and cost‑effective train services while maintaining compliance with national regulations and Alstom’s internal standards. The role involves close collaboration with engineering, maintenance, safety, and customer service teams to optimize network performance, manage resources, and drive continuous improvement initiatives. You will act as the primary point of contact for stakeholders, including government agencies, contractors, and local communities, fostering strong relationships and transparent communication. Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee day‑to‑day railway operations, ensuring adherence to safety, reliability and performance targets.
  • Develop and implement operational plans, timetables, and resource allocation strategies for passenger and freight services.
  • Coordinate with maintenance and engineering teams to schedule preventive maintenance while minimizing service disruptions.
  • Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) such as on‑time performance, incident rates, and cost efficiency, and generate regular reports for senior management.
  • Lead incident investigations, root‑cause analysis, and corrective action implementation to maintain high safety standards.
  • Manage relationships with Moroccan railway authorities, local municipalities, and third‑party service providers.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives using Lean, Six Sigma, or similar methodologies.
  • Ensure compliance with national railway regulations, Alstom corporate policies, and environmental standards.
  • Supervise a multidisciplinary team of operators, dispatchers, and support staff, fostering a culture of accountability and professional development.
  • Prepare and present operational performance reviews to stakeholders, highlighting achievements and areas for enhancement.

Education

A bachelor’s degree in Railway Engineering, Transportation Management, Mechanical/Electrical Engineering, or a related field is required. Advanced certifications such as Certified Railway Operations Manager (CROM) or Lean Six Sigma Green Belt are highly desirable and will be considered an asset during the selection process.

Experience

Candidates must possess a minimum of five to seven years of progressive experience in railway operations, rail logistics, or a comparable transportation sector. Experience managing large‑scale projects, leading cross‑functional teams, and interacting with regulatory bodies in Morocco or other international contexts will be given priority.

Salary

The compensation package ranges from SSP 250,000 to SSP 350,000 annually, commensurate with experience, qualifications, and performance. The package includes performance‑based bonuses, health insurance, pension contributions, and other statutory benefits in line with Moroccan labor law.
