Job Overview
The Energy Storage Systems Engineer will lead the design, integration, and optimization of battery and hybrid storage solutions for Vestas projects throughout Morocco and the broader MENA region. Working closely with the wind turbine engineering team, project managers, and external partners, you will ensure that storage systems meet performance, safety, and regulatory standards. Key Responsibilities
- Design and engineer utility‑scale battery storage systems, including selection of chemistries, sizing, and layout.
- Integrate storage solutions with Vestas wind turbine platforms, ensuring seamless communication and control.
- Conduct performance simulations, thermal analysis, and safety assessments using industry‑standard tools.
- Collaborate with procurement to source components that meet quality, cost, and delivery criteria.
- Develop detailed technical documentation, specifications, and installation guidelines.
- Support commissioning activities, on‑site testing, and post‑installation performance monitoring.
- Provide technical expertise to sales and business development teams during client engagements.
- Stay abreast of emerging storage technologies, market trends, and regulatory developments in Morocco and the EU.
- Lead cross‑functional workshops to transfer knowledge and promote best practices across Vestas Morocco.
Required Skills
- Proficiency in power electronics, battery management systems, and grid integration.
- Strong analytical skills with experience in MATLAB/Simulink, PSS®E, or similar simulation tools.
- Knowledge of international standards such as IEC 62619, UL 9540, and local Moroccan grid codes.
- Excellent problem‑solving abilities and a data‑driven mindset.
- Effective communication skills in English; French or Arabic is a plus.
- Project management capabilities and ability to work in multidisciplinary teams.
Education
A Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Energy Systems, or a closely related discipline is required. A Master’s degree or relevant certifications (e.g., Certified Energy Storage Professional) are highly desirable and will be considered an advantage during the selection process.
Experience
Minimum of five years of hands‑on experience designing, testing, or commissioning large‑scale energy storage projects. Prior exposure to wind‑energy integration, utility‑scale projects, or renewable‑energy consulting will be viewed favorably.
Salary
